Wow!

We saw 1 or 2 hammerheads in a distance. Still have 9 more dives to go. Hopefully we’ll see more than a couple in closer encounters.
That is so interesting! It’s so fascinating how conditions and sightings can change so quickly. This isn’t the best video, but you can see all the hammerheads around us. We had tons in the shallows as well - circling around us on our safety stops. Keeping my fingers crossed that they show up for you!

Dang, that is is so interesting (and honestly frustrating!) how conditions and sightings can change so quickly. We were so gobsmacked that we immediately booked in for July 2027. Keeping my fingers crossed that the hammerheads appear. (I tried to upload a few videos for ya, but for some reason it will only photos).

I would like to go back, especially in january...but for now I am booked to see hammerheads in the Banda Sea!! Always hammers......
I like Banda Sea too. I’ve been there 3 times (2017, 2019, 2022) I’ll be back to Banda Sea 14-22 Sep 2025 on Blue Manta & 31 Oct - 15 Nov 2026 on Mermaid 1.

You need to upload your video to YouTube and post the link here.

BTW, Yorkandy’s group saw Ferox in Bajo del Monstruo. Our group will try to find it tomorrow there too (fingers crossed).

Ditto.

Arriving in Cali on 18 JAN and taking a slack day on 19 JAN.
I’ll see you there then. 👍

Taking a slack day on 19 Jan is really good idea. I did the same in the last 3 trips to Malpelo. If you have never been to Cali before, you can do a day trip around Cali like what I did, as shown in this video:

@Dan

Any drawbacks to a cabin on the port side of the main deck?

Never been yet. Did you actually see hammerheads?

Dan is still making bubbles, I guess, so I will attempt to answer.

I was on the Ferox last July. As best as I can recall, there are just two cabins on the main deck - both singles. The rest are all below deck.

So if you are referring to one of those two singles, and more specifically, the port side one, as I see it, the biggest drawback is that it is right across the kitchen so it gets noisy really early in the morning. Other than that, both of those are a bit smallish compared to all other cabins.

I prefer either of the two singles just below those two, but they are below deck and you have to climb up and down a ladder (not a staircase). They are larger, albeit a bit more money. They still get a bit of kitchen noise but not as much.

And while I am at it, I might as well give you my two cents' worth on the remaining cabins, which are forward and also below deck. Those are nice and spacious and possibly less noisy....BUT......the door on the main deck that leads to those cabins is on the port side and when it is a bit rough during the crossings (and on my trip, at least going out was) you may get drenched by the splash from incoming waves as you come in and out. It was also probably not a coincidence that on my trip, the people who were in those cabins were the ones who were hardly seen during the crossing to the island during meals....a lot of them were seasick.
