Hey all,

I don't normally do this but the shop I frequent has two spots open for a trip to Truk in Jan 09. Gear Junkie and I are going. The shop had to book the trip two years in advance. I figured that since the lead time on getting a booking is so long, I would just pass the word along to folks in the mid-west area. Who knows, there maybe a diver or two itching to go to Truk but can't hook up with a group/shop in the near term. Anyhow, I just wanted to pass it along. Let me know if you want any additional details.

Hey Jchoby,

You're in for a real adventure. Diving the wrecks of Chuuk is an almost spiritual experience. Read as much history of the battle before you go; you will enjoy the dives much more. Read *"WW II Wrecks of Truk Lagoon" by Dan E. Bailey. If you're coming to the M & G in a couple of weeks, I'll bring my copy for you to look at. You'll get a real good idea of what you're in for. Did you see my video for Chuuk at the Spring M & G? I would love to visit those wrecks again. PM me the details: who are you diving with? Live a board or shore based? how long will you be there? Cost? etc.

Thanks for the posting John. Man I sure wish I could jump onto the trip. However, my oldest is getting married in early Jan so I won't have the time nor the funds to make it happen. Be sure and post a trip report. Chuuk is really high on my diving wish list and I'd love to hear about your trip.

I am newbie here. I came here while I looked for Dan Bailey's Truk Lagoon Book

I went Truk (Chuuk) in last Jul/Aug with Eartchwatch Project. Wonderful trip!! :blinking:
