Terry, I'm looking at the Chapbook for 2001 and there isn't a single entry for the Nadi area. Sorry I couldn't find something helpful.

I just came back from Fiji and stayed a night at New Town Beach which is close to Nadi airport. There is a dive company there called Aqua Blue. I no nothing about them but they do have a website http://www.aquabluefiji.com . New Town Beach is about a F$7 taxi fare from central Nadi. Which hotel/resort are you staying at?

We are staying at Mercure Hotel on Queens Road.

There are 3 operators in the Nadi area; Aquablue which is located at Wailoaloa Beach, about 5mins taxi from where you are staying. The 2 others, Dive Tropex and Adrenalin Watersports are both located on Denarau Osland which is about 30mins from there.

The operation in South Seas Island is pretty good. They cater to first timers. I highly recommend the island as a place to relax for a day. As for the diving, the visibility isn't too good. You can see some hard corals, but there will be few soft corals. There weren't too many fish either.

See if a day trip to Beqa is possible. It's probably a 2 hour drive from Nadi. That would be your best bet.
