That number of divers vs one DM is not legal in Cozumel. 8 is the Maximum.

If you go back to the Villa Blanca, try to get an economical upgrade to the second floor rooms. They are massive.
We dove Punta Sur (Devil's Throat) with eight other divers plus DM
How many of us actually count how many divers are on our boats? I leave that to the DM & captain. There were other divers on every boat I've dived from, but I'd have to guess if asked how many?

We will request a 2nd floor room if we stay there again. Thanks for the heads up.
I always count the divers in my group out of habit, and have many other OCD tendencies. To destroy my credibility in this matter and because I see no reason to discuss the number further, however, perhaps I miscounted. ;)

I sometimes note the number of divers for trip report purposes because I know some people on Scuba Board prefer '6 packs' over 'cattle boats' (it's like there's no in-between...) so the info. can be good to know.

Nice to know about the 2nd floor room thing. Thanks.

Richard.

Standard rooms there are listed at 350 square feet, while the Superior rooms are 650. I think the Superior rooms are all on the second floor, but I am not certain - so forget my second floor suggestion. The difference in prices will vary greatly, but sometimes you can snag the upgrade for just a few bucks/night. It'll vary with what site you book at, when, and how many of each they have left in inventory I suppose. The hotel only has 54 rooms counting the also available Villas and Penthouse.

My bud & I had connecting rooms as they were cheap enough and we both like private rooms & baths. We grabbed one of the 5 gallon jugs from the rack, set it on my wet bar, and carefully poured into smaller jugs we had packed - measuring water for a $10 coffee maker I always buy at Mega first day, jugs for the fridge, etc.

Or maybe you had 2 DMs on the dive, or just maybe they skirted the park rules? :dontknow: I seldom notice exactly how many divers we have onboard.

Its not just you. I count divers too.

I have the habit of counting the number when we're under way & after each dive.

I also count the other divers multiple times during a dive. Since I do not count myself it makes it a little easier.

Not only do I count...I know where each one is supposed to be sitting and who they got on the boat with. I also check their fins before we roll in so I can more easily ID and count them underwater. Add me as a member of the OCD group.

I count them and like MMM I also try to figure out some way to distinguish them from the others underwater. Fins, different colors on their wetsuits or board shorts or booties, something different.
