hehehe I just woke up 30 mins ago.
yep, would really want to take dive 1 back. The current was strong as usual but very manageable - all we had to do was stay low and hop along the walls so the current wouldn't get us. Ish and Matthew were the only ones who were able to continue the dive.
The first thing that happened was Larry's camera. We backrolled in and Larry was busy fixing his weight belt as we descended. While he was fixing himself I noticed the water in his casing so he thumbed the dive. Dive time = 2 mins at this point.
So we continued with spoon and mons leading, Matthew and Halthron next, then Ish and Iris, and I was at the back. I see Matthew and Halthron hitting the downcurrent (which was very funny seeing them begin going down and wonder what the heck is going on ), then Ish and Iris hit it. But all was still going well at this point - we were managing the current and wall hopping to avoid being hit hard. Then I got narcd.
I had spoon's camera and I told everyone (except spoon and mons who are 10 ft above us on the next level of the slope) to pose behind a big wall with moonie so I could take their picture. The problem is I can't figure out the camera (which I have have used on several occasions) and I spend a good minute in the strong current fiddling with the settings while everyone was waiting behind the wall (which was blocking them from the current). This is at about 23m. At this point I'm getting tunnel vision, focusing to much on one task, and getting that drunk feeling - I realize: "OMG! I'm narcd!" I've been narcd at 35m on several occassions courtesy of Spoon . But at 24m I've never been so hardcore narcd that it was like being sloppy drunk.
I wave off taking the picture to everyone (I'm pretty sure they were disappointed about it) and begin giving the narcd signal to Matthew. He doesn't understand me and this made me want to tell EVERYONE. Including the dive group passing by - hehehe . I tap my reef hook to try get spoons and mons attention - no dice, they're too far. So I think to myself the next best thing is to say I have low air and I wanna surface. Now everyone understands me and I ask Iris to join me on ascent (God knows what might have happened if I went up by myself!).
I finally lost that narc feeling at the 5m safety stop. My head was spinning crazy the entire time. Total dive time was 25 mins. I was mad at Spoon's camera the rest of the day. When I told everyone the crazy sign meant narcd they all went "OOOHHHHH, I thought you were saying you were loco - we know that."
That's the story of dive 1. But that didn't ruin the next 4 dives. We got our ***** together the next dives and they were awesome.
