1. The ferry is easier and more frequent.
2. Which airline has direct flight from Europe and N. America to Cebu City?
Turkish airline has flight from Istanbul to Cebu via Manila.
either from Istanbul to Manila to Cebu, or several connections to HKG to Cebu.

Not direct from Europe or N America, however with the United new connection through Tokyo it's getting a bit easier to bypass MNL (or connecting through Dubai is on option now on Emirates).

A lot of people from north America are flying through Taiwan to Cebu.

Thank you so very much! This is exactly the info that I've been seeking.
As mentioned previously - Wakatobi Dive Resort might be the best run dive resort in Indonesia (if not the most comfortable).

The diving is very good, the food is great, the resort is very nice, and they handle the travel from Bali on their own charter (with essentially unlimited weight for bags - not quite true, but we've carried a ton of gear there for 4 divers, 4 large camera rigs, clothing for an extended trip (we were going on to Africa afterwards) It's never been an issue.

LOL.
Do you know the definition of direct flight? Definitely not.
NO CHANGE in FLIGHT NUMBERS but might include one or more stops at the intermediate point.

Which is one of the reasons United added the flight from Tokyo to cebu - they want a share of that traffic coming from the west coast.

Well US airlines also have to compete with the better Taiwan carriers that are cheaper and have a better qualitty of service on EVA China Airlines Star Lux Airlines etc

Sure... which is why I've flown EVA many times. The reality is though if you are frequent UA customer, you are potentially taking some of these flights for free (on miles, up front).

Of the 12 flights from SFO-MNL, I've only paid for 4 of them. That's not impossible on EVA, but it's a bit easier on UA, and they've discounted the flights to MNL for much of the last year.

Emirates fly direct from Dubai to Cebu then on to Clarke and back to Dubai.

Lots of Emirates flights from Europe can connect to this flight, but I don't think it would be cost effective to run any direct flight from Europe to Cebu.
