The soft V weight that I'm using is a shot filled bag (bean bag) that looks like a sausage. It's about 1" in diameter and maybe 8" long. There are two grommetted holes which you place over the bolts that hold the BP to the bands. Thus it's not really adjustable.

That being said, I'm more interested in a good solution than in making this particular V weight work for me.

It sounds like casting a lead V weight with a 3-4" tail might be in order.

Thats why I suggested taking the weight out and moving it until you see where you need the balance. Then you could decide how to manage the weight shift.

One thing to remember here: Trim weights are TRIM weights-they are not intended to be used for getting you below the surface. If you're putting too much weight in a trim pocket, then you probably need to re-think your setup.

I use a trim pocket when diving an AL80 single w/ a shorty. It's only a pound or two and works very well to help me stay horizontal.

Good point.

Hello guys... I dive the Eclipse 40, S/S BP, 6lb STA...and also use the trim weight pockets with 2kg in each. The balance is perfect, for me at least. I also have a Proteus 3 on my right hip, which in theory adds an extra 2lb on my left side. Haven´t felt any rolling effects.

Since you're diving a single tank why not pour a channel weight (p-weight) or buy one from Fred T.

A channel weight places the weight close to your center of gravity which is the best location.

Here is a link to one that I designed that is adjustable. I have found the adjustable weight locations usefull for fine tuning my horizontal trim.

good work deepdiverbc. Those trim weights look pretty sweet. I'm currently just getting setup with my bp/wing and have a FredT BP, STA and P-weight. I'm currently a bit head heavy, and am about to make the switch from AL 80 to an E7-120. I will be ditching the P-weight and keeping the remainder of my weight on my hips. This should trim me just about right.

Thank you for that link, I have a friend who likes to play with metal so this would be a perfect job for him.

Don't you have to be really carful that you don't inhale the fumes....I can't imagine lead hardening in your lungs could help with offgassing ?
I was gonna do that exact thing to my plate too but haden't the faintest idea on the actual logistics of pouring lead.
