A friend of mine told me a trick to use with the goggles. He said that if you take a lighter and melt away the shipping film, it will work better than using toothpaste. Has anyone else ever heard of this? What other handy tricks do you have?

Sure! And. sea gull poop is good for preventing chapped lips.

Well, uhm, maybe if you want melted goggles? Because melting them with a lighter would be much easier than toothpaste.

yes, I have heard of that technique. You can find other threads with the same suggestion. However, I dont think I would chance ruining my mask. Toothpaste is not a major project. Shampoo works too and I have heard that Softscrub works too.
Toothpaste should not be the gel type or it will not be as effective.

"Goggles"? What are goggles? Isn't that what you do when a pretty lady walks by?

Goggles are kinda like a mask, but they don't cover the nose. They are fine for surface swimming, but since you can't equalize the pressure in them, they shouldn't be used to dive down even to shallow depths. Lots of folks use them and nose plugs when swimming.
