Hi,

I don't normally post new product info on forums, but we've just launched one that is pretty hot. It's called the TravelPac and it is a hybrid of the TransPac harness and Travel EXP wing in an all-in-one, non-modular BCD. Includes a crotch strap. Hardware is streamlined and weight pockets are optional, making this little rig just 6lbs.

Retails for $459.00.

Here's the link if you're interested: TravelPac BCD

Best,
Kathleen

Kathleen,

What's the rationale behind this travel BC? Does the TravelPac have a lighter weight over a Transpac w/ Travel wing?

I like Dive Rite products (have several of them), but I prefer the modularity of separate wings, backplates and soft harnesses. That way I don't have to buy separate "integrated" systems for each type of diving. However, I certainly wish you good luck with this product.

I like the concept behind this because I mostly dive both aluminum and steel singles in the Carib. Is it positive in the water? If so, how much? Can you move the d-rings? Can you remove the cumberbun? I assume its been tested in the water. How stable is it with steel tanks? I assume it doesn't require a STA? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes, due to streamlining of less hardware and an all-in-one integrated harness/wing, the TravelPac is lighter than buying the kit separately. Great for travel.

You'll want to stick with aluminum 80s or lightweight steel (85s or less) in this rig due to the lift of 27lbs. That's also why we rate the added weight at 16lbs or less. Of course, every diver is different. I could dive this rig with a steel 95, but I wouldn't need additional weight. However, a large person who dives it with a steel 95 and still requires weight would struggle with the lift. You just need to know what type of weight you require for the lift.

All D-rings and cummerbund are removable. All Dive Rite gear is personally tested by staff in-water during prototype stages as well as final product. Will not work with an STA, cam strap only.

Thanks!
Kathleen
