I stuff 4 or 5 regs in a gutted, hard-sided brief case. To make them pack easier, I disconnect the HP hoses. No problems at airport security. Right after 9-11, it routinely got opened & inspected. More often than not now, the checkers recognize what they are seeing in the x-ray and it goes right thru. Getting on a flight to or from Cozumel probably helps.

Whatever you do don't pack your dive watch attached to the battery pack of your canister light....
Oh jeez... I had one of those alarm clocks that looks like a tank. It got very close attention at LAX, Houston, and Cozumel.

I dont travel wearing a dive t shirt or anything like that because it causes Deltal and US Air to say got dive gear....lets check....ok you owe more travel money....

Are you saying that it costs more if I travel with USAir and have dive gear in my checked or carry-on luggage?

Does anyone have more details on this?

Thanks.

Maybe, maybe not. The details on their web sites can be read both ways... ANY scuba gear is subject to extra charges, or, scuba gear is allowed in excess to normal baggage limits (two 50 pounders), but is subject to an extra charge.

Continental was the first to do this, and I've flown with them four times since then and the reading of the rules was that as long as I wasn't over the normal baggage limits, I was fine.

Careful on the trip home... your wetsuit will gain anywhere from 5-10 pounds during the trip.
