Well, that could be expensive from here! LOL! Airfares have been really volatile.

Phoenix, I don't get what you mean about "the mainland." From what I remember reading at the time, Reid was from, well, an island as you know, but he was travelling on a renewed or replaced passport obtained at the Belgian embassy of, well, you know. I wonder what's in that code?

ahh, i didnt read too much about it, it was on the news quite a bit a while ago, what i meant was he was born and bred on the uk mainland, the same suburb as me actually, (eek), not sure how he could of got a british passport from a belgian embassy, unless you mean the british embassy in belgium :)

that only the passport agency could issue bar codes.

Anyway the real point is that those of us who have travelled for years on a waiver would not even think about the need to getting a visa unless the new rules are published.

To get a passport without a bar code is not common so there WILL be some upset travellers in October for that you can bet the mortgage!

Just trying to do me bit to alert people.

Happy travels
Jonathan

I happened to pull out my passport the other day and, sure enough, there is a bar code on the very last page (inside back cover). I don't remember them ever scanning it before, but I presume they will start now.
