Hey guys I have heard some stuff about traveling to Coz in Aug. I am planning to go there first week of Aug. How is the weather at that time? Also I have looked at many resorts. Can you recommend one that has a lot of day activities like: dive, jetski, and other water sports right in the resort? Is it costly to jetski dive or go atving out there? Any info will be greatly appreciated to make my trip excellent:confused:

It'll be hot, and it will likely rain a little bit every day, but you'll be in the water most of the time, so who cares? Water temp will be in the mid 80's; the beer will be cold. Diving will cost you $50-60 for a 2 tank boat trip, and the going rate for tanks and weights for shore diving is 6 bucks.

I have some info posted at http://www.jumpstartmusic.com/CozTrav2000/index.html
that might be of some help. Enjoy your trip!

I have never seen jetski's at any of the hotels I've been to. But I've only been to 6 different hotels. I have never seen any on the south or east side of the island either. Maybe I've just missed them.

What hotels would you guys recommend for my girlfriend and I. Is Reef a good hotel? Which hotels are big NO! From the pix a have seen not all have good beaches for swimming. :mean:

There are jetskis for rent at San Francisco Beach, and possibly at Playa Palancar. Other places, too, I'll wager, but not on the east side; it's usually too rough over there for them.

I will have to check out the jetski's next time I'm in Coz.

Windycityp: Some hotels have no beach and a few are across the street (highway)from the beach. The Iberostar, Allegro & Reef Club all have very nice beaches. My personal favorite is on the east side of the island. The beach goes on forever. I spent almost a full day, just body surfing & boogie boarding. You will need a car to get there.

I'm sorry, I should have welcomed you to the board. I just noticed the date you joined. And your from the Chicago area. Nothing gets by me, only took me 2 days to put your name together with your location. Let me just say "DUH"

How long have you been diving?

It is a map of the Cozumel hotel zones with links to arial photos of most of the main resorts. It will help you get an idea of what the beach is like at many of the hotels. But be warned - the Plaza Las Glorias and Barracuda links do not take you to photos of those hotels.

Neither does the Lorena link.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL THE INFO!
Lets talk weather. Is it risky to go in first week AUG. I don't want to go there and stay in my hotel the whole 7 days because it is raining. Has any body been to Coz during the time I am going. What are the chances that it will rain!? storm!?
