Got a Transplate Harness CCR (not the regular one). Difference is how the shoulder straps connect, I find CCR version to be a bit more logical in that regard, even though it is made for a re-breather diving, I'll be using it for regular diving.

Anyway, bought it, it got delivered. I guess it is the current design.

First of all, I did not liked how harness webbing was sewn together. Very amateurish, almost looks like was done in a rush or someone who just started sewing. Thread hanging everywhere, not terminated, ends started to fuzz. Basically not a professional stitch like you see on commercial BCDs. I was taken aback by the quality. Looks like someone really did not care to make parallel lines. I seen custom tailoring, even when people are sewing on a sewing machine it can be made look very presentable. Funny thing is, I read someone else's review of Transplate, as I recall, they too made a comment of threads sticking out. I guess dive rite continues to deliver a sub-par sewing quality.

Second, came with no manual. Yes, it is not hard to put together the harness, there are also videos by dive rite but, come on, a one pager cannot be added? Thing is, I bought other small trinkets too, it all came together, I had no way of knowing what belonged to the kit, what was extra what I ordered. Basically, a mess.

Not sure but it seems that CCR version may have different shoulder padding than the regular version. I don't know, the shoulder pads look so cheaply made. Well, they are not falling apart but then again, not impressive in quality.

Maybe I seen too many BCDs and got used to some basic quality standards, who knows..

The only thing that I liked in Transplate CCR was special metal pieces that connected the harness, I thought that the idea was slick, especially on CCR version that has nicely routed straps on the chest area. However, these metal pieces came as it seems without any post processing, kind of sharp. Instead of filing sharp edges they decided to do double webbing at those points. Still don't understand why edges could not be filed down. I cannot do it now myself without cutting the webbing.

Thus, I was somewhat disappointed in Transplate harness quality. Had to spend some time cutting off those loose threads, something the manufacturer should have done. Also I spent sometime touching edges of the metal pieces with a finger wondering how it will affect the webbing in the long term. I thought I would be getting something of a retail quality, not DIY. I also wish the webbing would be available in different colors. I know I can sew my own harness but I'd rather buy made, I am not great at sewing myself. Therefore, it was double disappointing to see that dive rite sucks at it too.

Overall, it is very usable but quality is not impressive. I think it has a potential but the execution lacks luster. Whoever is doing quality check needs to go or the company needs to adapt new standards.
