Hello,

Im having trouble adjusting my transplate. If i manage to adjust it so its comfortable, the plate rides a little low and i wont be able to touch the top of it easily.

If i adjust it so i can touch it easily, the transplate becomes small and the waist belt rides up high.

Ive looked at the manual many times, looked at the Transpac adjustment videos from DR-Express and i simply gave up.

This another thread i created, it has some pictures of my transplate.

Please Help :) :lotsalove:

Hey Mood,

Don't give up! Sorry you are having a time getting your Transplate to fit. Let me help. Ironic enough, we are shooting a Transplate fitting video this month. It should be up on our site in Dec (obviously a bit late for you, but just wanted those who read the forum to know).

First, can you please give me your measurements as follows: t-shirt size (S,M, L, XL), chest dimension and height? Metric or Imperial is fine.

Next, what size is your TransPlate (M, L, XL)?

After I hear back from you, we'll get started.

Thanks,
Kathleen

Hey Kathleen,

TShirt : Medium or Small
Chest dimension: 34cm x 39cm (these are rough, i used a ruler to measure, but they seem correct)
Height: if its my height your talking about its 5'6 (~170cm)

I ordered a Medium Transplate.

Thank you for your time, if you need anything else just post back.

Okay, great. You have the correct size for your measurements, so that is good news.

It's hard for me to tell from the pics because they are out of focus, but I think I see two things that are contributing to your woes. First, no crotch strap. Gotta have a crotch strap, otherwise, every time you lift your arms, the entire rig will shift due to the weight of the plate. The crotch strap should be snug and create a "V" when attached to the waist belt (see pic of mine: http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/divekat/TPlate_crotchstrap.jpg

Next, it appears that the shoulders aren't quite woven correctly. You have a lot of webbing between the upper edge of the plate and the shoulder pad. See mine here: http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/divekat/?action=view&current=TPlate_back_shoulder.jpg

Finally, I can't tell from the photo, but be sure that your D-ring is as low as possible (or wherever you want it, but that it lines up just with the top of your armpit. Right now the front D-ring appears to be high up on your chest, making it difficult once you get the rig snugged up and tanks on to reach underwater. See mine here: http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/divekat/?action=view&current=TPlate_shoulder_closeup.jpg

Reaching the plate: http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/divekat/TPlate_back.jpg

Take a look at these and tell me if, indeed, my assumptions are correct and a bit more tinkering is needed to get the shoulders shortened up and the crotch strap added.

Don't give up...these things are a bear to put together. I did mine two years ago and I remember it taking me all afternoon, plus a few more hours of tinkering to get it right.

I think i fixed it now. I made the pads 6cm away from the top of the backplate. I can reach the backplate fine now. You mentioned the crotch strap, is it really necessary.

One reason i move to the Transplate is because i thought a crotch strap wont be needed. I prefer weight belt over integrated, and a crotch strap gives me a hard time if i need to remove the belt. And if i have the belt over the crotch strap ill need to remove it first before removing my gear.

Thanks for your help!
