What is the difference in inherent buoyancy between the transpac and an aluminum backplate transplate in XL, in salt water.

Just have experience with said setups in fresh water. Transpac was 2-3# more buoyant than the transplate. While actual numbers will be different the ratio would be the same?

Hi,

There shouldn't be a difference. The TransPac is 4lbs 14 oz and the Transplate+alum bp is 4lbs...this nominal. If buoyancy is the concern between choosing between the two, they are equal and go with the rig that will best suit your diving requirements.

Hope this helps,
Kathleen

My experience involved a ss backplate...that is where the couple pounds of buoyancy came from.
