Hi,

Does anyone dive the Transpac with a single tank, 3mm wetsuit and no back pad? I'm wondering if it's comfortable in this configuration and whether the bolts attaching the wing dig in. I tried one dry and it was pretty bad, but it may be perfectly ok in the water.

Thanks.

While I normally dive in the Great Lakes with a back plate and wings, I have a Transpack that I use for tropical diving. It takes up less space and weight in my luggage. I have stripped off all of the padding and extra peices off that are not necessary to support my tank. The system works fine and is comfortable in the water.

You don't need the bolts to attach the wing. The wing gets sandwiched in between the straps and the tank, but I doubt that you will feel them in the water with a 3mm suit on anyway.

Hi Hudson,
As Captndale said, there is no bolts needed for the TransPac to be used with any sort of single tank. The tank straps thread through the wing to the soft back plate. Nothing else is required.
Even without the back pad, the Trans Pac is extremely comfortable. Of course, you can dive it with or without the back pad.
If there is any other way we can help out, let us know.
Safe Diving,
