I want to first thank everybody for putting up with all my previous gear posts. And this one. :-)

I ended up with a Transpac II (I always liked what I saw and ended up with a deal I couldn't refuse). Anyway I did not get a wing with it.

Can any wing be used with the Transpac II?

If so what needs to be done to set-up lets say a Halcyon Eclipse or similar?

Will a 30lb wing be enough for the following or should I go with a 40lb? 7mm semi-dry with a possible core warmer, single tank (w/pony) I am not sure if I am getting a steel or alum. but would like to be able to use either.

For warmer water diving I realise I will probably have way more wing than I need but better to big for a couple of dives a year than to small for most of them.

If more info is needed please ask.

Thanks

I was in a dive store 2 weeks ago looking at the TransPac II and they had a Halcyon Pioneer wing there. The clerk saw me looking at it and said that I could use that wing with a TransPac II if I wanted. At that time I held it up and all the strap positions seemed to match perfectly.

I ended up buying the TravelWing.

I've seen people use oms and halcyon wings with the transpac, so you should be good there.

I use the travel wing (30lbs) with an e7 100 steel tank and a 5/7 mil, and have plenty of lift. If the price is similar, though, you should consider the 40lb.

Just for my curiositys sake, how good was your deal on the transpac?

The oxycheq single wings seem to be getting good reviews. The prices seem pretty good, check the board for some of the threads relating to Oxycheq.

I have a transpack I dive with the travel wings and it's just right with a tropical wetsuit and an AL 80.

If I was buying a new one I'd go with the Oxy 40. I dive a steel 130 and like to bob like a cork if there is any sea running.

Thanks for the help, looks like a 40 will do the job. Now to search for one. I like the Halcyon (that SS inflator/deflator looks pretty cool)

ajparr - I got it from a friend that had two, this one was brand new 2003 model, (Why he had two I do not know and didn't ask, figured it was none of my business) got it for $ 100

Don't get upset, but I think I got a very good deal: $230.01 for the TransPac II harness plus TravelWing.

ScubaRon,

That is a good deal. I think I got mine for around the same (from ebay) after I bought new straps and cummerbund - it was brand new, but the guy had it for a couple years.

The .01 makes me think yours came from ebay too... am i right??
Why would anyone be upset at you for saving money?

Yes, it was from the eBay store of a wellknown onLine shoP.

Considering that setup as well but don't have all the facts. I am getting ready to start my cavern class and will move to Intro Cave or Cave 1 if I like it. Will this rig work with doubles? I know I will need a balanced rig but don't know if this will work or not. Would double as a great warm water rig that will travel easy.

Yes, the TransPac will work with doubles, but you will need a larger wing. The TravelWing that I have only works with singles. See this link for an overview of the wings for the Transpac.
