My EXTREMELY limited use of a BP/W system (two dives) did allow me to do some evaluation. First coming from diving Zeagle BC's, the difference was not huge, but I did really like the stability of the BP/W setup. Having the weight on the BP was a big factor for me diving dry. I used a Singles rig with a 6lbs STA for approx 12lbs of lead on my back.
For doubles I can't comment other than to say that I do know and dive with several people who use doubles, and EVERY one of them does so in a BP/W configuration. I can not imagine that dving even double AL80 is going to be stable using a softpack BC like any Back Inflate BC, or a transpac, as I noticed a stability improvement over my Zeagle BCD, and that was with a Single. If I could notice the difference diving one AL80, the difference is going to be pronounced using doubles, and more so with steel if you go that route.
If you are going to go technical, and deep, you WILL be diving Deco, and doubles because that is what will be necessary for deco diving deep.
For all those reasons, and to agree with others that have posted, IMO if you like the DiveRite TransX system, choose the TransPlate! But IMO you will be better served with a BP/W configuration. If you like an adjustable harness, there are several out there including the TransPlate harness, and others.
Good luck with the choice.
