Hi Everyone

I am trying to convert from diving with deco tanks both left and right like i was trained to just left side. I am fine with two deco tanks but when it comes to hypoxic trimix dive training i find a problem. I clip the travel gas and first deco gas normally and then the oxy should be only nose clipped onto the hip d ring or clipped on a leasch. The problem i find is that if i have a full ali 80 with oxy or ean80 then it is negative and does not sit well like a tank with less gas.

So i would like to know what you do and how to manage this situation. Any infomation is appreciated.

Do you use a leasch or not? So i would like to know how you manage your deco tanks throughout your hypoxic dives.

Thankyou for your time to help me out i really appreciate it.

If I'm in a cave, I'd drop the bottles off on entry. If I'm in the open water, I'd probably either (a) shorten the dive plan so I only need two deco bottles, or (b) do some bottle juggling so the ones with helium are the ones on the hip / butt d-ring, and regardless of the options I'd have a lot of surface support.

Personally, I think (a) is preferable in the open water, conditions can change quickly enough that I don't want to find myself stuck with hours of deco when water spouts, storms, or other fun stuff happens.

And yes, I'm a buzz kill.

first, i would use my deep deco gas as the travel gas instead of a dedicated tank.
second, i would try and plan the dive so a 40 of o2 would be good instead of an 80. a dive in the ocean that requires 80cuft of oxygen is something i would think long and hard about splitting into two dives.

but either way I would put the oxygen on a leash on my hip and put it up on my butt/legs so it doesn't dangle

on a dive with a stage bottle and two deco gases I would put the empty stage on my butt as soon as i cashed it and bring the heavy deco gas up to my chest

you can see here how I would do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcdsq-7B8Yg

Darn: "this video not available".

Like a charm, thanks guys.

What kind of tanks are they? I only used Luxfers for stage and deco tanks and I can't remember negative tanks being an issue. People that used Catalinas had a big problem.
