I am interested in any plans or photos of towed sleds. About 10 years ago there was a plastics engineer in Sarasota that designed what he called the UV-1. It was a towed sled made of Lexan. It disassembled and folded up into a LLBean canvas bag. Had a windshield, com system using buzzer woven into tow line. He even had a replacable weak link for the invevitable crash into coral which breaks the aileron arms. The UV-1 was marketed for $1100 US and sadly I did not buy one. I have been looking for a long time but have never found another for sale. I have built two sleds out of aluminum lawn chairs and they worked ok but were never the equal of the Lexan sled. I have seen the one on this site used in Alaska, and its too big. The tow boards are too simple, wear out your arms and you freeze without a windshield. The communications system is also a necessary safety item so that the boat driver knows what is going on with you. Thanks for any help.

There's info in the DIY section.

Thanks, I read that section first. There are no plans or any references. The only devices are either hand held or that heavy arctic sled. I had hoped someone might know about the Lexan sled designed by that plastics engineer in Sarasota. He was in the business but apparently he did not sell enough to make it worthwhile. Oh, well, in the meantime I will return to working on another lawn chair sled.

Anyone have a copy of that old Popular Mechanics sled plans that were published years ago? Its mentioned in the diy posts but no one ever posted them.
