I did a tour with playa.info that also took us to Chicen Itza, Valladoid and stopped at a cenote to swim in. It was very nice.

Why don't you just rent a car and tour the area with you and the family. You get to look at the ruins at your pace, get to investigate areas that the tour guide won't take you to (3 sister temple (?) & the Phallic Temple) and then you can stop at any cenote you want and hang out at your of pace
