I agree. You will exceed 100 hours with maybe 150 dives, or 200 at the most.

But what I'm trying to see is what is the make up of the people that use the scuba board.
People with over 101 hours I consider to be experianced divers. It would be nice to know that when some advice is given here it's from people with knowledge. It's not a perfect way to judge it but at least a good guide line to go by.

... will not provide you with meaningful information upon which to make well considered judgements.

1) 100 hours is not really much time underwater.

2) 1000 hours doing <60' warm water reef dives isn't the equivalent of 100 hours doing >60' cold water low viz dives.

3) You have no way of knowing how much experience an individual poster has by looking at the results of your poll.

4) If you want to know what the experience level of an advice giver is ask them directly... and then don't bet on it.

But it is interesting to see how much people dive. And we should be able to get through this topic with out the usual arguments. I agree the numbers aren't high enough. I consider myself a relatively new diver and have more then a hundred hours. I'd guess that uncle pug needs a couple more zeros to get close to his time under!

I personally have an area in my log that is for total time underwater, it's interesting to see how many days of your life were underwater. :-)

100hours = 4.17days

But time underwater is different for every diver. Some dive single tank and 20m max but have 500hrs + while some dive twins + stage + deco and have 100hrs.

time does not equal ability, time equals experience but experience is relative.

This is a simple, basic poll.
From what I see there are alot of people that use the board that have lots of dive time.
If you take the real world of diving it works like this.
If you dive 1 day a month (2 dives ) average dive time 1.5 hours.
It would take you around 67 months (5.5 years ) to get 100 dive hours in. Obveously the numbers will change according to depth of dives and other factors. In that 5.5 years period there are alot of other factors that play into experiance. Other training thats taken place, Types of dives done,
Like I said this is not ment to be scientific. Mostly couriosity.
Most times you can tell who knows what their talking about.
And it's not meaning less. It gives you a good starting point.

Just wondering how many divers track there dive hours.

Hmmmm....I track mine but haven't answered the survey...

I passed up 100 hours quite a long time ago....(I think I was still in college then...)
