I am looking to service 1st and 2nd stage(DST & XTX 50). Do you think a torque wrench will be needed? I read mixed answers so far. What do you think? (I find a Norbar truetorque around 140€.)
Thanks.

I got one because the service manual specifies exact torque to apply and we are dealing with soft metal brass components where the threading can get worn off by applying too much force. Besides that I don’t want things coming loose underwater at 30m below because I applied too little torque … 😉

You gotta check the calibration on the torque wrench in any case, so you're probably buying a luggage scale either way. The cheap torque wrenches have distinctly non-linear relationships between what their setting says and what it actually is. And, if you store them under tension accidentally, that relationship can change as well.

Common 3/8 drive torque wrenches have the range much too high, anything that reads in foot-pounds isn't going to work well when your regulator manual says "torque to 20 inch-pounds".

My preferred for this work are Dial Indicting Torque wrenches, specifically the CDI Torque 2502LDIN.

That same listing has a 1/4 inch drive model:

1/4-Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench - 20-240 In-Lb/2.3-27.1 Nm, Dual-Direction Adjustable 72 Tooth Torque Wrench with Dual Range Scales, High 3% Precision for Bike, Motorcycle and Car Repair

That looks like it is a better range, true?

No torque wrench is better than a cheap torque wrench. Or a luggage scale attached to an adjustable wrench.

I live in Europe unfortunately. I think I will get this one. What do you think? Seems good.
