I have some 5th ports that I want to add to my regs. Anyone know what torque they're supposed to be tightened to?

Thanks,
Ari

by hand, plus a little bit.
that's enough.
the o-ring and the pressure make the job.
i regurlarly maintain my regulators, and i didn't know the torque.
no problem.

I'm normally a "hand tight plus a bit" person, but I've heard so many people say the torque specs on this are critical that I'm inclined to search them out....

If you insist: :D
  • Aqualung spec: 20 inch-lbs
  • ODS spec: 37 inch-lbs
  • Scubapro spec: 44 inch-lbs
Averaging the 3 gives 34 inch-lbs.
As you can see, it's not that critical.

Edit
The above is for the port plugs and not the turret retainer.

That's a good definition for "not critical".
Go with the ODS specs: these guys OEM for a lot of brands, possibly yours.

My memory isn't what it was, but the HOG 5 th port should be torqued to 185 in lbs of torque. ( 185 "#'s is just over 15' #'s of torque )
Check with Chris on the board, but I think I am correct on the torque.

To make it clear as mudd, the Dive Rite manual puts the torque at " Torque Retainer Turret to 125 in-lbs "

Here is a link to their manual. (page # 35 )

The HOG and Dive Rite regs are very close in design.

Thanks, Jim breslin

Thanks Jim. That's perfect. I got your PM as well.

Looks like it's 10.5 ft-lbs FTW.
