This might be a really easy question, so here goes nothing.

From taking photos by the shore, I've developed a bit of "gunk" on my UV filter. How can I clean it? I have a lense cleaning kit from Canon (paper clothes, solution, little brush, etc) .... but is there an easy way? Soap and water? Water? Suggestions!?!?! :)

Thanks bunches!

What type of camera?

Canon 400D / XTi. The UV filter is a removable, "protective" one.

I use a 350D and use microfiber towels for UV and polarizing filters. You can pick them up just about anywhere now, try WalMart. I clean them regularly, they seen to get a film over them sometimes. You can use them on the lens itself, a lot of people are scared to touch the lens glass but it's pretty tough if you use a clean microfiber towel. The great thing about these towels is that you can wash them and they last for years.
