Thought I'd share a pic of my current "Top Shelf" finds ( subject to change as The Hunt continues! ) - enjoy!

Did any of them contain any of the original contents? Every now and then someone claims they found an unopened bottle while diving, but I never thought a cork could last that long submerged.

I have found unopened bottles of alcohol while diving, and so has my main dive-buddy. So far, one full-size bottle of hard-liquor, and then frequently I find unopened cans of beer or the mini shot-sized bottles. Since I don't drink anymore, I usually just give them to whoever is hanging out on the boat.

He's found several full-sized bottles, including wine.

I have pulled a full and intact prohibition whisky from the Detroit river before. The corks hold up well as long as the bottle is tilted down. The lead seal protects the cork from the outside. The inside stays swollen unless it is upright and dry.

Nothing shown on my Top Shelf contained any original contents, though in some instances, the original "stopper" was still in place. Many of these bottles contained soda of some description. Like others posting here, I've found bottles ( typically newer than the type on my shelf ) with some, or all, of the original contents still present. Can't say I ever sampled any of them, though I know guys who look forward to that!
