So I figured before I pick dive spots on a list of 1000 or ask the few diving friends where they want to dive I would ask here what your top 3 dive spots are lets say an hour north or south of Delray Beach so we can hit those first. Thanks!

Jupiter for drift dives. Pompano/lauderdale for shore dives. Since you're new you might want to consider some of the shallower reef dives out of the pompano area.

OW for now, AOW suggestions too since I will be getting AOW in 2 weeks. Shore dives would be nice for price reasons right now. From what I read Blue Heron Bridge is going to be as good as any shore dive first, is this correct?

Do you have anymore detail on your favorite lauderdale/pompano dives? I have any quite a few on the list and assume some are better than others...

Thanks!!

I'm personally not a big fan of bhb, but different strokes...

Lauderdale shore dive south of commercial pier. Once you get comfortable shore diving. Go to pompano and dive the dropoff. Call steve at gold coast scuba to join a meetup or to get tips on doing the dive.

Thanks for the info! So, just south of the pier? How do I know where?

Park at datura ave, bring $3 in quarters. Gear up, walk straight out to the beach and enter the surf. Swim out about equal to the end of the pier and drop down. Highly recommend you call gold coast scuba for a vis report and tips before diving.

For more OW depths I'd suggest WPB over Jupiter and dive BHB while there. Ask for Breakers, Paul's or Horseshoe, all south from WPB and in the 55 to 60 foot range. Once you are ready to go a little deeper you can ask for some of the northern reefs from WPB, such as Area 51, Shark Canyon and Juno, more 70 to 100 depths. All are drift dives.

And get nitrox certified before those deeper dives.

Definitely LBTS as mentioned above.
BHB is alright. I mostly go there when blown out of other sites.
A little further South... Dania Beach. I have done Seatech Ledge, it's a bit of a swim though. The Rock Pile is there, which is close to shore.
Some decent info here

BHB is awesome for testing gear, practicing buoyancy and diving in general, and photography. There is a lot to see that most are unaware of and even those that have dove there hundreds of times see new things all the time.

Get your aow and nitrox. Jupiter and wpb drift diving rocks. I dove Deerfield beach once and we couldn't find any reef. I want to dive lbts one day. Anyways, your in a great spot.
