you use the flat end....not the ball end.Why would one need the ball?
most dead-blow hammers dont have metal faces otherwise.....and a rubber mallet wont reliably transfer the punch.

.....does it honestly make a difference?...but again, why would you specify a ball peen hammer?
i literally linked one in my first comment....and all you have to do is google search "dead blow ball peen" and you get like 4 million results.....regardless, ball peen or not, it doesnt matter. My dead blow hammer is a double-faced sledge
You don't need a ball peen, just a dead blow hammer
EDIT: I just did a quick search - I can't even find any dead-blow ball peens. I found one cross peen dead blow, but all the rest were double sledges.
why is that - does it weaken them?Be sure to put them on the neck, and NOT on the straight part, the sidewall.
Causes the cylinder to be condemned at the next visual. NO marks on the side walls! You call it a stamp; but the inspector calls it a pit.why is that - does it weaken them?
walls are thin stamping makes the tank not usable because of VIS standards for pits and gouges. a deep stamp can go 1/2 way through a steel tank side wall.why is that - does it weaken them?
