Alright, It's official...I signed up today for the Janruary fundies class at Fifth Dimention...Pacific Rim Aquatics...or whatever they have become! I've read all of the recent reports posted here and somehow I am still more than ready to put myself through that same thing minus a few degrees temp wise. I must be nuts, but hopefully in good company! Along those same lines, I am looking for a canister light so if anyone has one to sell, I'd be interested. Let the "fun"dies begin!

check out BossHoss's or maybe its DerekS on this forum's post about his can light...check the gear forum I would vouch for him as a good guy and trust him. Sandho is not a bad guy either.

IF you do end up with a light... either use it all the time or leave it at home... I was helping a buddy out with his DIR-F Prov re check and he had a light can but wasn't going to deploy it (he hadn't been practicing deploying it) and wouldn't you know it when we got down and stabilized ready to start the instructor calls him on it.

Good to know.

Ok, here's a question. I do not own tanks and was thinking about picking up a couple before the class. Which do you think would be a wiser investment...tanks or a hid light. I really only have enough money for a 10W HID unless I was able to get an unreasonably good deal on an 18W...or enough for two tanks. Personally, I am leaning towards tanks. To those who have taken the fundies class, how much of a good/bad idea is it not to have a can light? Thanks for the help...:06:

With the class you'll have plenty other things to worry about without having to mess with the light. I would go with the tanks and then get the light later. The light adds another dimension of "stuff" to step in... because they will expect you to exercise discipline in where it is pointed and not blinding your teammates ect.

Definitely get the tanks. You can always pick up a light later.

ditto on the tanks, AL80s

I would say do that class without buying anything, see what the instructor teaches and what gear would make sense for you. It could be that you want to get a BC, a suit, fins or whatever. Let the course work its magic. Then buy stuff to meet your needs.

If the $$ are burning a hole in your pocket, tanks are probably the best bet, even though you can rent them anywhere. If you get tanks, get AL80's (can be used as stages later on). Maybe think of a good wing?
