Today I had two minor equipment failures. First my o ring on tank's pro valve failed and I did not have the right size o ring in my save-a-dive kit and my buddy did not have the right sized o-ring in his save a dive kit. Luckily another diver had the right sized o ring. I learned I need the right sized o rings in my save-a-dive kit. Is there an easier way to know what size o rings I need without dragging my tanks to the shop? Both my steel 100's have pro values but not the same pro value. I use an A clamp with the pro values.

The other equipment failure I had was my line securing my secondary light to a bolt snap came undone when I finished using it and clipped it to my BCD. This light is always clipped to my BCD and I have had at least 50 dives with that line/knot attaching the light to the bolt snap. How long do folks dive with a line/knot to a bolt snap before replacing the line?

And a final question, I have been lusting after a new primary light, but I am 69. When are you too old to buy new dive gear?

I only saw one question, don’t know the answer but I’m 70 and keep buying stuff, I don’t know how you kids do things.

Never. You are not dead yet.
I have 3 'baby sisters' younger than you.
Some people. 😊 :acclaim:

i am 50 i find myself as a old diver what it s gonna be at 70 🤣.

Years. In fact I don’t ever recall having to ever change a knot. Ensure you are tying it correctly. I’d also recommend a few drops of superglue on the knot. Mine never come loose .. ever … and I use at least 4 on every single dive.

Bring the insert into the shop, not the entire tank. Typically the inside o-ring on a pro valve insert is a DIN o-ring. The one that seals the first stage inside the valve. It is:

112 Metric 12.37 X 2.62 Standard DIN Regulator/Valve (Most DIN regulators)

The outer o-ring should be a standard yoke o-ring: 014 5/8”

All 4 of my pro valves take 112 o-rings inside and out, which surprised me a bit. I expected them to take 014s for the outside.

I bought a set of assorted o-rings and in the field just eyeball it.

Do you need the money for food, medication or tank fills? You do know that the dive light or the money will both get left behind when you are off to the great charter boat in the sky. I know that I will eventually not be able to heft a steel 120 and I doubt I am going to buy another dry suit, but lights are much lighter and I will certainly be doing night dives for a bit longer....

Keyrings, splitrings for fixing clips

Cigarette lighter glue is the bomb

Interesting!!! I honestly never measured mine because I remove the inserts and throw them in a box never to be used again. I too just assumed the outside was a standard yoke 014. That might explain the issue the OP had. Most o-ring kits come with 014s but not necessarily 112s.
