Well I have a house in Tobago, but if you are on the southend I would strongly reccomend Sunshine Apartments, great location, nice place and decent prices. Up north Roatan likes BWI, if you are going Tobago solely for the diving go up north if just planning to take a dive Bon Accord area is best for a mix of activities.

Wickets I hate beewee, they are having serious delay problems and overall customer satisfaction is low right now. I fly AA from miami to trinidad at essentially the same price as beewee. check flight AA 1819 and AA 1818 to get back, roughly works out to be like $500 - $600 USD. If you would like to book tickets on Tobago Express try a Trinidadian Travel Agent, my preference is Alston's Travel (868)623-1980, ask for Peggy and she would hook you up with flights (STRONG SUGGESTION - do not buy tickets to leave US outside the US as this automatically flags you for extra security searches, always happens to me, god damn TSA)

Thanks! Our Continental flights take us out of Birmingham through Houston to Trinidad, American's rates to connect us to the flights you mentioned were about $250 more even with a group rate. Peter Hughes can book the Tobago Express leg for us, so we'll be able to avoid BWIA too - thanks for the info there.

Any suggestions on hotels, inexpensive yet clean and close to the airport? We're going to stay on Tobago overnight, or may have to go to Trinidad depending on what the connector flight situation is.

And I thought only tickets to Jamaica were expensive in terms of distance travelled.
I echo your sentiments re BWIA, no more Air Jamaica for me just AA.

A nice clean decently priced place near to the airport in Tobago is Sunshine Apartments in Bon Accord. In Trinidad, I couldn't tell youanything about the place but the closest hotel to the airport is The Belair Hotel, dunno how it is or any of that though.

Yes, been twice. Speyside is great. Favourite - not quite sure why but I always like Cathedral. Something about the light and colour?

Warning - not everyone on the boats is reliable with backward roll. Currents may mean all backward rolling together. Some idiots don't get it and wait til you've gone. Result - they land on your head with their tank. Moral - roll with your friends or wear a crash helmet.

Stayed in Speyside. Manta Lodge puts you in the village for going out in the evening, rooms bright, airy and clean; food and bar are good; staff are friendly and helpful.

Blue Water Inn also has a great reputation but not so good for strolling into town in the evening and even worse for staggering back because it's up over a headland and down the other side. Last time used a jeep to get there for an evening out. But they don't light the car park so all piled into wrong jeep and couldn't work out why the key wouldn't go in the ignition. Then in the dark, in a car park full of jeeps, how do you find yours?

Found something recently which looked bad about the Speyside Inn. Apparently changed hands and the new regime will include breakfast with toast but then charges extra for butter and jam.

And there's lots of other things to do at Spyeside like bird-watching and hiking.

me and my fiancee are going to Tobago for our wedding in January....we have 3 weeks so i'm hoping to get some good diving in....i've done about 50 dives now, all in Thailand/Malaysia, but my fiancee has not even done any snorkelling before....can anyone recommend a good place for her to do her open water (we're staying at Coco Reef...not sure what their dive company is like?) and any dive sites that you would recommend for me? i want to do most of the diving with her, but it seems probably not a good idea for her to go to the north of the island?!

I was planning a trip to Tobago at Manta Lodge hotel. Is it a good hotel (food, location, etc..) I also heard that you can see a lot a Mantas in April-May ?
