Didnt mean to sound nasty to those that may participate in chewing while diving. It just sounds bad and seems to go against safe diving practices, although thats based on logic not training.

wedivebc:Tonight a student of mine told me he chews tobacco while diving. Other than being less than impressed that he uses a rental reg, I can't come up with a good reason why he shouldn't. Must be a choking hazard or something.
Any opinions on this?
cheers,
matt_unique:Whoa....I'm sure like other things the more you chew the less it affects you but if you are looking for a reason to prevent this guy from chewing, as well you should for this and many other reasons such as choke hazzard for him and a buddy trying to buddy breath, the dangers of the narcotic effect is a good one.

gedunk:Smokers do it every day. Its kinda hard to smoke underwater ya know.![]()
MSilvia:Yeah, but I know at least one smoker who used to chew nicotine gum while diving...
