I've dove both (a Zeagle non-sta) and a DR STA. I prefer the STA.

Boy, the other STA-less systems must be quite different from the DSS one, judging from Stephen Ash's post. I don't have to do anything with my cambands to take my wing off my plate, and the wing has thingamabobs that plug into the plate and keep it stable while you're putting your gear together.

I've never used an STA and have nothing against them, but just haven't seen any reason to acquire one.

Yah... the DSS is quite different. As far as "STA-less" options are concerned, it is probably the best. Nevertheless, it remains my least favorite rig and rarely gets wet.

Just curious which one is your favorite (single tank wing, b/p and STA to keep with the thread)?

And I’ve seen you have been going back and forth with Tobin lately on another thread over buoyancy test. Does that have any influence over your least favorite being the DSS?

Hardly.

Oh... I'm not sure that I have one single favorite... but which ever one it is... it has a STA!

Hey all, thanks for all the replies - this board is AMAZING and I can get more info and viewpoints here in one day than in a week of trawling the internet.

Stephen Ash, thanks for the photos, good stuff. Heheh.. my handle is Halcyon cos it's my favourite mythical creature (a bird) and I had that even before I'd heard of the ubiquitous brand, let alone learnt to dive. Halcyon's also the former name ok Wake island.

Noted that STA or no has its own advantages and disadvantages. For me, I've decided on one with, but may try a different wing without STA in the future if it suits me. And nope, I'm NOT gonna get the H. :)

Thanks!

halcyon,

Good on you, I have H, O, OMS, (tried Diverite)... guess what I prefer LOL!

Oxycheq LOL!

SangP

Heheh..

"O" yeah, SangP. ;)

Having used the sta-less Halcyon Pioneer I switched to a Hammerhead with two piece Sta.
I prefer the stability of the Sta greatly over the plastic insert Halcyon integrated sta.
I can't speak for other rigs but my tank is going nowhere.
Really provides a solid feel and one thing I definitely never worry about.
