I only need 2 night dives to get my AOW. This puts my dive numbers at 26. I'm taking SDI's CRPOX1st and AED ( class only ) I want to take the rescue course... but was wondering if more dives would be better or if taking the class would be wasted on my Inexperiance(sp?)

I'll finished this with, I'm very comfortable in the water. My AOW dive master said my Bouyancy was great.

Rescue sounds like a good fit for your eagerness. Sooner or later, everyone should take it- very few do. Looks like you're ready.

Go for it! In Scuba, there's no such thing as too much to soon unless you're going for your DM within your first year of diving (at least where I am because diving is seasonal).

Great question...If you're component and comfortable and your instructor feels you're ready there's no reason why you can't start down the path. That said, it sounds like you've got some question as to your readiness and getting the most of your dives but you can learn rescue even if you aren't advanced... it's just a question of how well you'll be able to preform during the class which isn't about the number of dives as much as comfort and ability -- 26 fun dives to 30' in the tropics isn't the same as 26 dives practicing skills in a challenging environment. Since it's up to you to pass and to learn, you have to ask yourself if you're ready and if you're noticing issues with control, buoyancy or aren't able to really control yourself then obviously you wouldn't want to take it until you were dialed in, but at that doesn't count like the case, so why not chat with the person running that class and get their take. Worst thing they say is to go out and enjoy a few more dives first, otherwise why not do it now.

Im going for my divemaster ( begining it next week) with only 30 dives under, I am going to be finishing it by end of July. I dont feel its too soon as long as one has proper training. As a flight instructor I know experience is a must, but training really does make one better at what they do

Had anything go bad on a dive? Lose your buddy? Your mask? How about a major equipment failure? Ever get choked on water in rough seas? If you answer yes to any of these, how did you handle it?

A rescue diver may face problems like this, or worse... and somebody else is having the problem. That person may be even be in a panic.

If you've actually had some screw-ups and handled them correctly, then you may want to consider the rescue training.

Rescue (whatever agency) is a course that everyone who dives even semi-regulary should have.

Id like to see more rescue skills in core courses though.

Rescue is a nice course to have. Tough call for me on more dive experience vs. more classes. It's probably academic. I took rescue with over 50 dives, might have been over 70.

I will suggest reviewing your experience at some point and seeing where you might be weak. Are all your dives following at a divemaster's heels? Same dive site? Same buddy? Million ways to look at it.

Find a way to keep growing and you'll do well.

If you're within 2 dives of finishing AOW you might as well do so.

CRPOX1st and AED are the prerequisites of rescue and rescue is a great course. Since Rescue has little to do with diving ability and includes a lot of great stuff you might as well go for it before you learn something the hard way. I would do your homework and make sure your intended instructor does intensive in the water work including mock incidents and accidents.

After AOW and Rescue regardless of your long term intentions (wreck, cave, rebreather I duno) it' will be time for you to be diving on your own. If I interpret your stats right about 1/2 of your diving has been in the form of training. Building on your own routines is a good follow-up goal.

Rescue is the one class I think they should loosen the requirements on. I think you should definitely take it as soon as you can. They really don't teach you any 'diving' skills other than maybe the unconscience diver rescue. Basically, there isn't much in the Rescue course that builds off previous skills or experience, so go for it.
