Why do you sometimes feel so tired after diving? I am not talking about strenuous conditions diving, warm water, no current, no deco etc.. does it have something to do with the body eliminating excess nitrogen?

simple Nodeco dive profiles for example 20mtrs for 40mins ascent rate would be 10mtrs/min or less (using a Nitek duo) 3min safety stop. Then maybe a surface interval of 2 hrs and then another dive to 12 mtrs for 40mins. Also I get tired sometimes after a 1.5 hour dive at 5-6 mtrs (shallow but long cave) I could never really figure out why. My dive buddy also feels the same. I am fit and surf almost everyday so it is not a fitness issue, but diving is sometimes as tiring or more than surfing,

IMO it's a hydration problem, just drink more water/juice before and after the dive.
And don't forget that nitrogen is a sleeeepy gasszzzzzzz.:D

I get dog tired after running checkouts. I've found ascent rates, yoyo profiles and lack of stops to be the main issues. When diving for myself, I have found deep stops and an excruciatingly slow final ascent to put me on the surface ready for the next dive or drive home.

I to get very sleepy after diving. Part of my problem is I don't sleep well the night before because I am so stoked to get wet. I went 2 dives yesterday with just a little over in hour of underwater time. When I got home I went to sleep for over 12 hrs. (forgot to set the alarm)

I have also found that adding a couple minutes of stops around 12m/40' and 9m/30' in addition to the normal safety stop did a lot to eliminate post-dive fatigue.

On 90 or 120 minute dives I'll drink a Capri Sun juice pack around the 60 minute point. I don't know if it is the liquid or the sugar content, but that helps me on long shallow dives.

Slooooow down the ascent, will do wonders for you after the dive.

I agree with the slooooooow ascent. I dove the Galapagos about 2 years ago and thought it was the nitrox. Last October I was diving the channel islands with a boat full of Instructors and DM's and they each told me to think about he ascents, and I agreed, they were sloooooooooow.

I used to get so tired that I go to a motel right next to where the boat docked. Now that I do sloooooow ascents, I can join the group for dinner and still drive to the cheap motel up the road. :)
