I'm set to do the "Mala Plus" shore dives next week with Maui Diving Scuba Center - Mala Pier and (probably) Black Rock. It's been a long time since I did any diving with an operator, and I don't want to mess up the tipping. What's the protocol for shore dives? We meet at the shop and take a van to the dive sites. Last dives I did were boat dives, so the tip jar on the boat was right there and obvious.

Thanks.

$5-10 a tank, depending on level of service. Maybe the have a jar in the van, or maybe back at the shop. Could just hand it to the guide discreetly.

As a former dive guide myself, now employing quite a few guides, I can assure you that there is no way to mess up tiping a guide. They will happily take any amount and say thank you with a smile. Most of them are now even taking Venmo, lol.
