Pamphlet with the watch says it is NOT a dive watch.

The pressure rating seems to say it would work as a dive watch but the instructions say it is not. What are the facts.

And only use in a warm water... They don't like a cold water, either.

I have been corresponding with the Timex people. They say it is not a dive watch because you cannot touch any of the buttons under water. they actually suggested taking the watch back and getting another.

Wow, that's unusual. Most 200m watches are 200m specifically to be used deep underwater, if you want. Timex is lowering their standards.

Spend the extra $20 (if that) and get a G Shock instead.

FWIW, I have done about 100 dives (up to 120') with an Ironman watch over 10 years. I never pressed any buttons and it worked great. I finally lost it this weekend kayaking. :-(. I plan to buy another.

since this thread has been revived, i'll chime in. My Ironman has been down to 50ft (I had my fingers crossed when i did it, since the battery has been changed a few times) once and survived. I don't dive with it but it saw a max depth of maybe 10ft while snorkelling last month. As of the next morning, I could not read the time for almost a week if there wasn't sufficient ambient lighting. The face was fogged and the Indiglo could be best described as dim. It has since dried out and it works fine, even the Indiglo, but the screen is now two-toned.
