I bought one of these from Campmor a few weeks ago - after 7 dives (never deeper than 70ft) it died. It is now on it's way home to Campmor for replacement. I hope the next one lasts longer.

I got one of these to take the place of the Suunto Mosquito that's been in the shop for a while. It's only been on 6 dives in 3 months :sad_2: but it's doing fine. been as deep as 86fsw. I was looking for a backup depth gauge anyway so this will stay with me even when the Mosquito comes back.

Hoyden,

Please post if you get a replacement, I tried ordering on 10/26 and they are out for good. Hopefully they forward it on to Timex for you.

That's brutal news - guess it will be awhile before I get a replacement one. Makes me glad that I just picked up a uwatec bt from someone on another board. By the way, Overstock.com has the Helix for $69.99 - still a pretty good buy if my failure was a fluke.

Mine was dead when we got home from PDC but figured maybe a button got pushed in the suitcase and it just expired. Hubby took it to the mall and got a new battery installed, seems fine now... :)

I got mine for about $40.00 from Campmor. My luck was dead outta the box. But a $3 battery and it's working ok. Now the real test....taking it to Bimini in December so we'll see if she implodes or not :)

I just got an e-mail from Campmor - They are sold out of the Helix and will not be replacing mine. I am going to call as ssoon as they open and see if I can get them to send my original one back and try to replace the battery.

Mine has seen a half a dozen dives. It's not as straight forward or as functional as I would have liked. It OBVIOUSLY wasn't designed by a diver. I am sorry to hear that Campmor sold out... I was thinking of trying a slew of these with my student gear. A depth guage for only $40 is great, but add a timer to it, and that's just too good.

That's probably because Timex stopped making the Helix DM.
