OK boys and girls of all ages, dive styles and disciplines, let's post a story (with pictures or video links) about your most memorable dive experience. You know the one you fall back on that’s guaranteed to get people to either laugh, chuckle be amazed by.

For me it when my lovely bride and I were diving the Manta dive in Kona Hawaii and a moray eel swam around her neck. I have it on video but here is a screen shot.

the night before our wedding, as we were gearing up for a night dive and heading out, a couple of guest at the island asked 'are yoiu getting nervous?'

we just looked at eachother and said, "no... its JUST a night dive!"

we couldnt understand the looks on their faces.. they meant were we getting nervous about the wedding - we forgot about it actually :D

and to get us in the Chrissy mood :D

our lds (Frog Dive Scuba Centres) puts on a huge chrissy bbq each year, santa comes with hot chick helpers and pressies for the kids. divers are encouraged to dress up for their dives so i made hubby this last year... this year he will be spiderman and i will be Jeanie from I Dream of Jeanie (this sunday actually so pics to follow :))

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures since right now I'm still working on that as I have a lot of pictures of backscatter, anyway...

On my very first ocean check out dive, my group swims out to a buoy and drops down along the line and then get into groups to do some skills. I start to hear clicking and naturally, it being my first ocean dive, I start checking all my gear, regulator, octopus, tank valve, every nook and cranny of my BCD and the longer I can't find the cause of the clicking the more frustrated I get, finally I decide that it isn't my gear that's clicking and I look up to see the rest of the group doing skills, so when it comes to my turn I do my skills, still a bit confused and surface with the group only to hear EVERYONE (8 or so divers) saying how awesome it was that they had dolphins swim right past them on their first dive!! When they asked me if I saw them I just pretended that I couldn't hear them through my hood... :shakehead:

I bet that excuse wouldn't have worked if it were a pod of humpback whales passing through! :D

I was at the Casino Point dive park here on Catalina getting ready to do another of my solo dives. This very attractive Japanese woman walks up to me and asks if I'd buddy up with her. Who am I to turn down an attractive woman... especially a lovely Asian lass!

She gears up and we get to the bottom of the entry stairs. She grabs my hand. I figure... hmmm, this is going to be nice. Unfortunately she never let go of my hand the entire time we were underwater! Now I always dive with my camcorder, so the left hand is being gripped tightly by her right hand, and my right hand is gripping the housing. Each time I needed to use my inflator hose, I had to reach across with the hand holding my housing to do so. It was a very "interesting" dive. She not only was scared to death, but obviously not well trained either.

The "funniest" part was when we surfaced and landed on the stairs, she released my hand never to touch it again. Sigh... the story of my life!

Dr. Bill! That's funny stuff!:rofl3:

heheheh - you just reminded me Dr Bill!!!

years ago hubby took out 3 hot chick irish backpackers on a dive

at some point of the dive, one of the lovely lass's (work with me here people - do this also!) took her left hand and made an OK sign, then took her right hand forefinger and pointed it in and out and in and out and in and out of the OK :11:

hubby wasnt too sure and smiled and nodded his head and they continued with their dive

on the way back, once again, she took her left hand and made an OK sign, then took her right hand forefinger and pointed it in and out and in and out and in and out

she seemed super happy with the dive, the dive finished and the 4 of them made their way back to the carpark for a debrief

at some point the young lass said "i loved that swimthru" and at the same time did the OK sign with the finger pointing

hubby burst out laughing and said "oh thats what you meant underwater!!!" apparently in her part of the world that signal was for swimthrus..... hubby set her straight before she headed off to sunny queensland :no

I'm sure most men would smile and nod our heads;) if a hot chick gave us that signal!

My first dive instructor was a lovely French lady who constantly repeated in a French accent, "Eeef you looose your body, you might run out of hair."

A couple of years ago I was on a Blackbeards trip and one of the divemasters dove down to check out the dive site before the dive. He came up to give us our dive briefing and jokingly said that we should look for the giant whale shark down there. Everyone had a good laugh and went down for an amazing dive (alas no real whale sharks). One of they guys diving with us was new at it and I tried to point things out to him, anyway, we saw a large grouper during the dive and I pointed it out to him and he took a picture of it. We get back on the boat and he thanks me for pointing out the "huge whale shark" and he was going to show the pictures to everyone back home. I had to break it to him and let him know that it was not a whale shark and that the divemaster was just kidding.
