What's the difference between a no stop dive, surfacing with a GF of 80, and a light deco dive with a 10 minute stop at 10 feet, then surfacing with a GF of 80?
12 hours apparently.

But, I agree with you. Like I said, it's still just a counter, and just looking for certain factors in the dive history to decide which counter to use. It's better than just a default 24 or 48 hours, but certainly not looking at actual saturation.

For me, I'd look at my SurfGF, and my tissue loading to make an educated decision if I have a flight before the countdown is officially over.
 
For the sake of anyone reading, DAN has a recommendation of 18 hrs after multiple recreational dives. For decompression diving, they recommend ‘substantially longer’ than 18 hours. That’s it.
That is a DAN US recommendation, based on Flying After Diving - DAN Workshop Report 2002, whcih was prior to widespread use of computers. DAN Europe recommends: "at least 12 hours after a single dive and at least 24 hours after repetitive dives and/or deco diving." This is based on ancient wisdom, at best.

This is almost trolling! The research and DAN recommendations are moot.

For things tracked by the model, the load of the non-director compartments is different. Slow compartements are probably more loaded after the deco dive than after the no stop dive.

For things not tracked by the model, the off-gasing stress is different. Without flying afterwards, we already know that the risk of DCS is superior for the deco dive than for the no stop dive.
 
My two cents is the flying after diving recommendations are to make sure your not already bent. If I'm not bent, I'm happy following my PDC saturation levels and accent to altitude calculations.
