Tides and Visibility

It depends a lot on the tidal exchange. In the Pacific Northwest if it's a double digit exchange you will have better vis on the flood tide. I've seen 15 foot exchanges in the Puget Sound / Hood Canal area.

Well there are tides and there are tides.

I remember about 30 years ago trying to execute a submarine power cable laying/repair operation in the Straits of Magellan with a 9m tide. Everything had to be done with a stop watch in hand.

We get roughly 7.2m on normal springs here. When you get figures like that it plays havoc with your deco schedules etc unless you time it right. Alternatively, it gives the chance of a very good fast drift dive
