My niece and her young children, 6 and 9, will be visiting me in S.Cal (e.g., Disneyland, Sea World, etc) next summer in June. We'll be travelling between Los Angeles and San Diego. I'd like to bring them to an easily accessible yet interesting tide pool area for an hour or 2. I'm from the SF Bay area and unfamiliar with the S.Cal shoreline. Can anyone provide some specific locations? Also, note if they are ONLY good at low tide, or if OK otherwise too.

Another question: As I recall June is one of the better months for whale watch trips to spot Blue whales in the Santa Barbara / Ventura area. Is this also true in the Los Angeles or San Diego area?

Thanks so much!

Sea World

Not to be an ass and butt in, but I just watched Blackfish so feel I gotta say something :P Why not wait 'til they're scuba-ready, then take them to see real orcas, rather than the depressed captive ones? Now that would be the adventure of a lifetime ;)

I saw Blackfish too. Sea Workd sucks
