Whew! you all didn't miss much. ZULU6 and I decided to 'man up' and try it despite the worsening conditions at about 3:30 PM. A strong current, low vis, white-caps all the way out were what we entered with. By the time we got out to the second reef (from shore - not the real second reef) we went from being moved around to being thrown around. It was kinda neat, but at the same time a surface check looked like the weather was getting even worse (guess there's a front coming through?), so we called the dive at that point and made our way back. I got out with 750 PSI left, so we called it at the right time.
There were definitely different fish at the second reef in the turbulent conditions. I saw a school of Yellowtail snapper and a hogfish trying to hide from the surges. I don't normally see those fish from shore dives on nicer days.
I have family in town, so my weekends are taken until the end of the month. I'm up for a weekend dive after that though (or weekdays soon).
Best,
Dave
