Trip Report Thresher shark diving - Malapascua - Apr 2025

I made a 5-minute video of our trip to Malapascua Island.

We spent 3 weeks traveling to Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, and the PI.

We met friends from Europe in Singapore, and we all flew together to Cebu for a week of diving on Malapascua.

We saw some mating Mandarin fish. A group of 4 photographers surrounded the fish for about 15 minutes, laying on the reef to get their photos. No one else got close.

On our first day of diving we saw about 20 Thresher sharks. Then a bunch of dive boats came in for Easter week and the sharks disappeared.

No wreck diving.

We saw some mating Mandarin fish. A group of 4 photographers surrounded the fish for about 15 minutes, laying on the reef to get their photos. No one else got close.

On our first day of diving we saw about 20 Thresher sharks. Then a bunch of dive boats came in for Easter week and the sharks disappeared.

1. That was purely selfish and unconsiderate. This always give the bad name for the photographer.
2. 20 sighting !!! Wow! That was incredible and how lucky you were!! I hope nobody is using flash under water because that will scare off thresher shark.

The others might not be that considerate even though the operator might have warn them in pre-dive briefing.
The sighting of the thresher shark is so exciting to some and they might forget what was being said. Human nature.

I had seen diver grabbed the fin of a whakeshark! And the dm has to physically pull him away.
