As a newbie diver and recently certified, I was wondering what is the proper method for threading the buckle (plastic) to the weight belt.

Thanks in advance.

I tried, but when it comes to getting the belt throught the same slot twice, forget it. Belt material too thick? Buckle slots too narrow? Is there an alternate method?

The webbing will fit through the slot. I usually weave the webbing through the belt in reverse and tuck the excess into a section of bicycle tire. This allows me to adjust the buckle as I go from drysuit to wet to skin. Also, trim the cut into a curve. This looks nicer and will help as you thread the webbing to put on the belt

Plastic is fine, but for $8 toss the plastic and get a metal buckle.

I will resist posting my initial reaction and suggest you go ask your instructor/LDS how. It's part of the OW course where I trained. Scares me to think what other "irrelevent" info they may not have taught.

You thnk this is tough, wait till you have to rework the cam buckle for your tank! :eyebrow:

It's obvious your course did not explain to read before responding.

Hey, we ALL had to start somewhere. It's not like you spend a lot of time learning this, do you? If the Instructor's like me, we already have the buckle on the webbing.

C'mon... be civil, people!

Read what? I stand by my statement. Go back to the instructor and ask him to teach you how.
