Appreciate any feedback from folks who have experience with either of these.

Thanks!

I have a B2 with a Z1 Octo. Best rig I have ever used. I use my Poseidon for cold water diving but this rig for tropical. Atomic wins hands down for comfort and breathing ease. Absolooootly unbelievable. The Z1 is as easy to breathe from as the B2. I do not think that Atomic make a Z2 Octo. The Z2 is a primary. Correct me if I am wrong.

As of their latest updated website they make octo's in the following models:

M1

Ti2

Z1

I dive a Z2 primary and Z1 backup. Very easy breathing and very comfortable. :)

What is it exactly that you are trying to find out? I think that their quality and breathing characteristics are pretty well known.

I have recently switched to Atomic M1 from Scuba Pro Mk25/600. Am really pleased with the Atomic - it breathes equally well in all positions.

I have an M1 with an M1 octo, and 2 M1s for for double tank rig. I like to have all second stages the same so I can mix and match componants (should one develope a problem).

The M1 is a great cold water reg. It works equally well in warm water, it's just the sealed first stage would be overkill for tropical divers (unless you are a rescue diver in mucky/sediment waters).

The way the M1 purge button/cap water vents are positioned (on the side) reduces the chance of freeflows in a strong current. I don't know how much of an effect the heat sink on the M1 second stage makes regarding freeze-up. I removed the heat sinks in favor of the swivel hoses.

Does the t2 not dive well in cold water tridacna ??

Should have no problems in cold water with the Atomic. Funny, I mentioned my setup to an Atomic engineer at BTS in NJ this year, and he had the same question. I have a longer hose on my second for ice diving and the Poseidon likes having a matching 1st and 2nd. Nothing more to it.
