I have seen several Spiny Dogfish on my last few dives. They are quite curious and a few have made a close pass to see what I was. The larger they are the braver they are in terms of distance.

Have other NE divers been seeing the Spiny's lately? Weekend before last we had several swim up to 30-40' as we were ascending to check us out.

I saw one this year while doing a shore dive at around 30 fsw. They are pretty cool, but not nearly as brave as the stripers that have been out recently!

Yesterday at 3 1/2 Fathom Ledge....

We saw about a dozen of them, they followed us around the second half of the dive. Some came within 2-3 feet but they mostly stayed about 15' away and never bothered us.

Great dive by the way, 20' vis and got 8 bugs.

I heard that on the 14th or 15th there were a bunch at graves light.

TT ;)

They have been everywhere off the SS for a while now. Quite nusiance when fishing.

In other shark news, I was in a boat that struck a very large (10' plus) Thresher shark off Scituate the other day. Fatal hit for sure, poor SOB.
