Ever wonder, if our domestic cattle pose such a problem with their farts, why this is any different from the farts of past critters?

Think about it: What about those vast herd of buffalo? Didn't they fart? How about all the herds of game in africa? Antelope, elephants, wildebeasts, etc. How about those huge meat eating donisaurs?

Doesn't the problem of fart emissions actually date back millions of years?

The numbers of those animals don't come ANYWHERE CLOSE to the vast numbers of domestic cattle required to feed all the fat McDonald's-going Americans.

The problem of methane emissions from livestock is a result of yet another aspect of our need to take more from the Earth than it can really give. It'll catch up to us soon...or maybe it already is? Wilma, Katrina, anyone?
 
I seem to remember something from college (if you can believe that I remember anything from college) about in China, where they capture the gas, and use it to heat homes.
