When you took the first picture of the Hermissenda crassicornis, how were your strobes positioned? Were they above and pointed down or off to the sides?

I used the Kevin Lee Special Technique, point the strobes inward about 45°

It looks like the strobe's flash is in the plane of the lens. Is this correct or are they above the lens?
Both strobes point at the lens, not the subject. Is that correct?

The strobes are about six inches above the lens, pointing toward the rear of the port. You don't want to shine the light directly into the lens. The edge of the light cone touches the subject but doesn't light up the background, or at least that's what I try to do.
