One would think that it would work that way... however the Placebo Effect is curious.

Since
400g has 4P compare to 100g at 1P
And
Argon doubles the P
We should expect 400g+Argon to weigh in placebolically speaking at 8P and 100g+Argon at 2P
Thus maintaining your 400g placebo factor 4 times that of 100g.

However a curious thing happens when you mix Placebo factors.

Since Argon doubles the Placebo factor of either 100g or 400g we know that the Placebo factor of the Argon itself is equal to that of 100g or 400g.

Hence it follows Placebolically that:
100gP+100gP=100gP+ArgonP
100gP=ArgonP
400gP+400gP=400gP+ArgonP
400gP=ArgonP
400gP=100gP

So you see that while doubling the Placebo Effect of your 400g by adding Argon you effectively reduce the Placebo Effect of the 400g itself to that of 100g!

I must respectfully disagree with you, Pug.
It seems your placebolic calculations may be off. The way you wrote it, you've completely negated the placebo effect of Argon altogether and as we well know, Argon works.
Hence it follows Placebolically that:
100gP+100gP=100gP+ArgonP
100gP=ArgonP
400gP+400gP=400gP+ArgonP
400gP=ArgonP
400gP=100gP
The placebolic formula should look more like:
2(100gP)=100gPXArgonP
100gP=100ArgonP
2(400gP)=400gPXArgonP
400gP=400ArgonP
400ArgonP>100ArgonP
Therefore, the placebolic effect of 400g thinsulate combined with Argon is > 100g thinsulate with or without Argon!!
